Altro passo avanti nella realizzazione della nostra turbina in kit.
Abbiamo costruito le pale a partire da pannelli in poliuretano espanso con la tecnica del filo caldo, utilizzando delle sagome di profili NACA4415.

Il risultato è notevole, la finitura superificiale ottima e la realizzazione non richiede abilità particolari, solo un po’ di manualità e qualche tentativo.

Siamo ben consci che le pale, così come si presentano adesso, avrebbero vita breve se montate sulla turbina: stiamo in tal senso studiando una soluzione per irrigidire la superficie.

Per chi vuole approfondire, oltre alle centinaia di siti di aeromodellisti che si occupano di taglio a filo caldo e alle esperienze di Caleb nonchè al forum vawts.net già citato tante volte, rimandiamo a un interessante articolo scientifico trovato qui (oppure qui) della Chosun University in Sud Corea: la modalità di test delle pale e della turbina ci ricorda qualcosa…!

Making of DIY turbine kit goes on! We made 6 new blades, using hot wire technique and polyurethane foam. The airfoil shape is NACA4415.

The result is as nice as smooth, more than we expected. Obviously we can’t use these blades as they are by now since polyurethane has mechanical characteristics. We need to solve this problem and we have some ideas: there are lots of suggestions on the web, and great experiences from Caleb; also this vawts.net forum is a good place to find ideas and solutions.
