Sabato scorso il VentolONE team ha deciso che era ora di mettere alla prova la nuova turbina, quella presentata alla Maker Faire di Roma 15 giorni fa. Serve il vento, ovviamente. E la nostra zona è certamente una delle peggiori, come già detto più volte, non solo in Italia ma in Europa (e quindi: ma non era meglio dedicarsi a qualcos’altro….?).

Per contro, tuttavia, al Colle dell’Agnello il vento era…impressionante!

Quindi scelta azzeccata per il sito!

Per contro…sarà il freddo, sarà la neve, sarà l’inesperienza, fatto sta che il montaggio delle pale per errore con angolo di attacco a -2° ha generato prestazioni piuttosto deludenti. Peraltro il pomeriggio ormai avanzato ci ha impedito di modificare l’angolo di attacco in tempo, prima del calo drastico del vento intorno alle 16. Insomma, sarà per la prossima! Abbiamo per lo meno testato la semplicità di montaggio anche in condizioni climatiche non propriamente comode, il resto verrà!

Last Saturday VentolONE team was involved in a new set of tests with our turbine, the one presented at Maker Faire in Rome.

You know, North of Italy is the worst place to have wind with a reasonable speed, as you can see in the above map. But this could be not true for the highest european mountain pass: Colle dell’Agnello (2744m!).

The day was windy (obvious!), cold and sunny. We mounted our wind turbine but we made a stupid mistake, setting the angle of attack at -2°…so, even if the wind was really strong the performances of the VAWT were so poor…

When we finally understood the error, well, the wind was going down, so many other tests are needed.

The bad: we still don’t have any real data about performances.

The good: it is not so difficult to mount our DIY turbine! The rest will come!
