Il VentolONE team sembra in letargo da un po’ ma è solo una impressione!
Stiamo lavorando sodo in varie direzioni per dare ancora più sostanza al nostro progetto, sia rispetto al crowdfunding, sia rispetto ad applicazioni future in terra africana, sia rispetto a questioni prettamente tecniche. Del crowdfunding abbiamo già detto in lungo e in largo, e dedicheremo un articolo specifico a breve circa la nostra strategia: per ora sappiate che la campagna è semplicemente rinviata, alla primavera 2014!.
Per le future auspicabili installazioni in PVS stiamo ragionando attorno a un bel progetto a Mfereke, in Tanzania, dove già siamo stati nell’estate scorsa, e un altro sul lago Vittoria: vedremo.
Per gli aspetti tecnici invece abbiamo qualche ancor più sostanziosa novità. Affiancati da un (ottimo) nuovo tesista del Politecnico di Torino, Luca Toselli, stiamo (finalmente) sviluppando un po’ di analisi fluidodinamica della nostra turbina, perchè fare modellini da bravi makers è bellissimo, ma costa moltissimo!
Abbiamo da poco scoperto un nuovo software, NextLimit XFlow, che stiamo testando. Purtroppo non è nè open nè gratis…ma confidiamo, prima o poi, di sfruttare le potenzialità di OpenFOAM, open-source e gratis, che ci ispira ancora di più! Per ora…XFlow è già un bell’accontentarsi! Il softwfare sembra decisamente valido e user-friendly, e quindi contiamo nel breve di avere una bella simulazione completata…anche se richiederà qualche settimana di calcolo “matto e disperatissimo”…

VentolONE team seems to be in hibernation, winter is coming (and we don’t like it!), but this not the truth!

We are working hard on various directions in order to strengthen all our project, either about crowdfunding and future african buildings and technical questions.

About crowdfunding, well, Italy has a lot of problems about…but probably we found a way! More on a future post, but, by now, ok, crowdfunding campaign is postponed to 2014 spring: it would have been better to have on November but it was impossibile, simply. So we think it is better to have some time to prepare all the needs well.

About future installations we are evalueting a really nice project in Mfereke with ACRACCS NGO, and another one at Victoria Lake: news should come in a few days.

Finally, with our new guy Luca Toselli from Politecnico of Turin working on his master thesis about our turbine and its structure, we started some CFD simulations with a really nice software, NextLimit XFlow. It was time, after 5 years! Because we think it is fine to be a maker and making lots of models…but it is too much expensive!

So, give us some enough time to learn all we need, and then we will share great simulations!
